How Health Phase works for you

How We Help

Health Phase is a free, plain-language guidance project for family caregivers and the people they care for. We don't sell anything, we don't take product placements, and we never recommend by brand. Here's exactly what you'll find — and how to use it.

How We Help

How to use the site

Three easy ways in, depending on what you already know.

1

Start by situation

Not sure where to begin? Go to Who We Serve and pick the phase that sounds like yours. We'll route you to the guidance that fits.

2

Start by need

Already know you need help with mobility, bathroom safety, recovery, or home care? Jump straight into the matching guide hub.

3

Look up a word

Hit a term you don't recognise? Our Glossary & FAQ explains the common long-term-care and equipment words in plain English.

What we are — and what we aren't

Health Phase is an education project. We help you understand your options and ask better questions. That's the whole job.

We are not a clinic, a pharmacy, a retailer, or a substitute for your care team. We don't diagnose, we don't prescribe, and we can't know the specifics of any individual's health. When a decision involves a real person's safety — fitting equipment, changing a routine, or judging whether something is right for a particular condition — please check with a doctor, nurse, physical or occupational therapist, or a qualified supplier who can assess the person directly.

Think of us as the calm briefing you read before those conversations, so they go better.

Common questions

Does it cost anything?

No. Everything on Health Phase is free to read. We're an education project, not a store.

Why won't you tell me which brand to buy?

Because the right choice depends on the person, and because brand recommendations are how independence gets lost. We explain equipment by type and by the features that matter, so you can choose well with your supplier or care team.

Can you tell me what my parent or patient needs?

We can help you understand the options for a given phase, but we can't assess an individual. For decisions about a specific person, please involve a clinician or a qualified equipment supplier who can evaluate them directly.

How current is the guidance?

We review and refresh our content on a regular schedule and update it when standards change. You can read exactly how on our Editorial & Medical Review Standards page.

What if I just have one quick question?

Reach out through our contact page. We're happy to point you to the right guide or explain a term — with nothing to sell.

The best thing we can give a caregiver isn't a product. It's a clear head and a sensible next step.
